The Differences Between Stainless Steel and Copper Extruder Screens

Differences Between Stainless Steel and Copper Extruder Screens

Stainless steel and copper extruder screens are core filtration components, but their material properties create distinct (adaptability) for extrusion workflows.

Stainless steel screens excel in high-temperature resistance (withstanding up to 800°C+) and corrosion resistance, ideal for harsh conditions like plastic/rubber high-heat extrusion or acidic/alkaline material processing. They boast long service life, low maintenance frequency, and stable filtration precision, suiting mass production lines (e.g., pipe, profile extrusion). However, their thermal conductivity is moderate, and initial costs are slightly higher.

Copper screens shine with superior thermal conductivity, enabling rapid heat dissipation to protect heat-sensitive materials (e.g., thin-film extrusion). They offer fine mesh flexibility for precise filtration, fitting small-batch, high-precision production (e.g., micro-cable insulation). Yet, copper is less heat-resistant (max ~400°C) and prone to oxidation/corrosion, requiring more frequent replacement, which raises long-term costs.

In short, stainless steel suits durable, high-temperature industrial extrusion; copper fits precise, low-heat, small-batch production. Choose based on material temperature, production scale, and corrosion demands.
